Editing Services

“You know you are working with a good editor when after a couple pages of notes you stop reading the explanation and just hit ‘accept.’ I am VERY fortunate to be working with Chris Rhatigan. Fucking fantastic job.”— Joe Clifford, author of the Jay Porter series and The One That Got Away

“I love Chris as an editor. He makes my work pop without changing my voice. After a content edit, my good guys are sharper, my bad guys are harder, and my plots are tighter. Then he takes care of the details with a copy edit. Bonus, he doesn’t b***** when I can’t get the commas in the right place. Damn, the commas…or is it damn the commas?” —  TG Wolff, author of Widow’s Run and Exacting Justice

“Chris edited my last two crime thriller novels. There is no doubt his eye for detail and intelligent approach to editing have massively improved the final product for my readers. What’s more, he achieves results while remaining sensitive to the original style and voice of the writer. I will be using him again.” —  Martin Bodenham, author of Shakedown and Once a Killer

I’m a freelance novel editor with more than a decade of experience. From my work as publisher of All Due Respect Books to editing manuscripts for Fahrenheit Press and Down & Out Books, I’ve been helping writers sharpen their work so it’s ready for public consumption.

The more I know about the project you’re working on, the better I can help you. I want to know where you are in the process, where you want to go, and how you’d like to get there. With every project I work on, my goal is to strengthen your work on your terms. You should feel confident that when your book hits the virtual or physical shelves, it’s exactly what you envisioned.

I have experience editing in all the following genres:

  • Mystery
  • Noir
  • Hardboiled
  • Cozy
  • Thriller
  • Fantasy
  • Sci-fi
  • Young adult
  • Mainstream
